England Furniture doubled their showroom space for this year’s Las Vegas Winter Market. The new showroom made its’ debut at Winter Market on Sunday, January 18 and it ran through Thursday, January 22, 2015. The increase brought England Furniture up to 15,000 square feet in Building B.
The Market is one of “the most diverse and unique industry sales and marketing platform in the United States.” It is located in one of the world’s most accessible and exciting cities and it connects showrooms and exhibitors with an unprecedented cross-section of buyers throughout three distinct but overlapping industries: furniture, home décor and gift.
England Furniture President Otis Sawyer said traffic was “great” during the Winter Market. The Las Vegas Market reported that the Winter Market registered the highest attendance numbers in the Market’s 
nearly 10-year history, with overall growth of 11% over Winter 2014.
Sawyer also felt that the dealers were in a good mood and looking for domestic sources. “The port strike makes dealers appreciate domestic sources even more,” Sawyer said. “We doubled our showroom space and came out with more frames for the West Coast.”
“We’re delighted that England has committed to a larger space with us in Las Vegas,” said Craig Staack, vice president of home furnishings leasing for International Market Centers. “With the kind of product they have and the sheer variety of styles and designs, doubling their space was warranted. They have a great product and now they have the proper backdrop to showcase it.”

1. Newsflash: TVs Are Not the Main Attraction
Don’t ignore the fireplace – or some other item – that is naturally should be the main element in the room. It’s best to hang your TV on the wall to save space. If you do not have that option, use the focal point of your room as a reference point for choosing a spot.
2. Beds Are the Main Focus
The placement of the bed should acknowledge the focal point of your bedroom. If you have a small bedroom, place the side of the bed against the wall.
3. Dressers Are Not Stand-Alone Pieces
Dressers look best when they are placed up against a wall. Angling a dresser in the corner looks bad, and just as importantly, it wastes space. Center a dresser on a wall, or if placing it off-center, put another piece of furniture next to it to achieve a sense of balance..
4. Couches Should Be Surrounded with a Little Space
Place your couch a few inches away from the wall. This makes the space seem larger. If you’re working with a big living room, place the couch in the center facing a set of window, fireplace, etc. This makes the big room feel like two separate spaces.
5. Overhead Lights Go Over the Dining Room Table
The best placement for your dining room table is in the center of the room and under a light fixture. If your dining room lighting is slightly off-center get creative. For example, consider creating bench seating against the wall.

Several England Furniture representatives were recognized for their performance in the 2014 fiscal year. Some factors contributing to receiving the awards include measurable criteria such as sales volume, change from the previous reporting period and territory GP. Somewhat influential are things like positive work ethic, ability to resolve dealer issues, and other less-definable gauges. England Furniture is fortunate to have an outstanding group of men and women dedicated to being the professional connection between the England Furniture factory and the retail outlet.
In addition to the sales awards, England Furniture annually identifies the person in their sales force who most exemplifies the values held by its founder, Arnold Dwight England. Called the “Mr. D Award,” award this prize is arguably the most coveted of the plaques presented each October.
Periodically, a Trailblazer Award is also given to acknowledge efforts by a sales representative to grow a territory in spite of challenging conditions. This year, our Northern California representative was singled out for her determination in increasing the California market.

Market brings more than 75,000 people to High Point, it will be held 180 buildings, it involves 11.5 million square feet of showspace, and highlights tens of thousands of new product introductions.
